One Fan’s Reaction to Pusha T’s Drake Diss “The Story of Adidon” Pretty Much Sums Up What Everybody is Thinking

Shout out to one of our favorite rising web stars, Kvng Guap, who has been posting reactions to songs for quite a while.  If you have not checked him out yet, this young brother takes song requests from his followers, watches videos, and films his reactions to them. Simple enough.

What really sets him apart in our eyes is his openness and willingness to be exposed to music that was released long before he was born. Not only does he provide his honest opinions, but he really tries to appreciate various styles from hip-hop Golden Era classics.   For example, he has reacted to classics like Mobb Deep‘s “Shook Ones”, Geto Boys’ “My Mind Playing Tricks On Me” and A Tribe Called Quest‘s “Electric Relaxation.”  In many cases, he successfully analyzes the lineage of current styles back to the originators. It is really fun to peep his thoughts and expressions. So kudos Kvng Guap.  Keep doing your thing!

In this ep, he takes on the beef of the moment between Pusha T and Drake. Unless you have been under a rock, it most recently surfaced (apparently, this beef goes back a bit) when Pusha released his latest album, Daytona, with a track called “Infrared.” In the song, he claims (among other things) “you don’t even write your songs.” Drake retaliated quickly with a worthy comeback in “Duppy Freestyle” where he begins the song “I’m in shock.”

Well, if he was shocked at the first track, then he must be in a coma now because Pusha T’s comeback, “The Story of Adidon” is BRUTAL. In the same spirit as classic diss’s like Jay-Z‘s “Super Ugly,” Nas‘ “Ether”, 2Pac‘s “Hit Em Up” and Ice Cube‘s “No Vaseline,” The Song of Adidon” excels at bringing to light real sh-t. Although this approach is effective, even the hardest hearted hip hop fan feels Push may have crossed the line with remarks about Drake’s potential father issues, an alleged child he doesn’t claim with a porn star as well as his producer’s health.

As you will see, Kvng Guap, has the same reaction many of us did when we heard the track. Check it out for yourself.
