DJ Critical Hype Nearly Breaks Our Necks with “The Damn. Chronic” Mixtape Blending Dope Kendrick Lamar Bars Over Classic Dr. Dre Beats

Sometimes life gets us bogged down with details and tedium. Thankfully, that cycle can be broken by the unexpected. In this case, we thank friends and cats with golden ears, Cheo Hodari Coker and Jerry Barrow for posting about this amazing mashup of two of the best that have ever done it from L.A. or anywhere else. This effort deftly blends some of Dr. Dre‘s most spectacular productions like the “I Wanna Do Something Freaky to You” driven groove of “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” with complex freestyles from Kendrick Lamar AKA Kung-Fu Kenny. Throughout the work, you feel as though you are on a tour of both artists’ career simultaneously. Brilliant. More than a sonic throwback, this production really connects the dots between generations. The G-funk feels so natural under the selected verses, you will think they were originally made that way.

This is a must listen for sure.  Look for this one on our 2018 Best of List.
