Luther Vandross Receives Star on Walk of Fame

It would be ludicrous to deny the role Luther Vandross played on contemporary R&B. His velvety voice was the sound of the genre for over two decades. And in his lifetime, Luther sold over 25 million records and was awarded 8 Grammy Awards to back it all up! Though it’s been nearly nine years since his untimely passing, he has been posthumously recognized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce with a star on the Walk of Fame. Called a “true master of the genre” by Clive Davis, Vandross ceremony was also attended by Marcus Miller and Nile Rodgers. Watch the video of the ceremony below.
