We love our brothers and sisters in DC who keep keepin it real and representing for all things soul. In celebration of what would have been the 75th birthday of the king of Afro-Beat, Fela Kuti, we wanted to post this super cool mixtape we just learned about from Dj Underdog. We really dig this cat and his flare for putting together the beats just right. Enjoy!
More from Soundcloud:
Resident spinner DJ Underdog joined DJ Baronhawk (Urban Artistry) in paying respects to our afrobeat father, who would have been turning 75 . Anything was fair game, but expect more afrobeat than usual since this is a tribute to the one and only Fela Anikulapo Kuti, architect of the dance floor arts.
The vibes was serious and the house was at capacity!
Recorded live at club Tropicalia in Washington D.C. June 12, 2013, this live mix is only a fraction of the experience. We counted 345 people at the door. You’ll even here the host and the crowd in the background. Truly a rough cut with no over edited strudio mumbo jumbo. ALL ORGANIC, NO WHEAT, SUGAR OR GLUTEN VIBES! Listen on the train or while you clean your apartment! Three hours and counting!
In the name of promoting the latest music and culture coming from Africa, Okayafrica commands the dance floor in DC in this LIVE mix
PLUS we learned about a really cool event which will be happening in DC this weekend:
Presented by Le Fete Accomplie (shout out to soulhead Karen Parker for the lookout)
