Kudos to Danny Castro and the organizers and hosts of the Fort Greene Fest’s Kick off event featuring hip hop icons Q-Tip and Pete Rock. Grammy Award winner, Q-Tip, blazed the way with the legendary Native Tongues crew featuring the Jungle Brothers, De La Soul and Black Sheep among others and then achieved solo success across contemporary hip hop and R&B. Pete Rock is the legendary producer and rapper who was one-half of seminal rap outfit, Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, who rose to fame on the strength of their hit T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You) which pays homage to fallen dance Trouble T. Roy of the group Heavy D. and the Boyz.
