During last week’s American Black Film Festival, audience members were able to see the biographical twists and turns that has made the genius we now know as Jay-Z. A Genius Leaves The Hood : The Unathouraized Story of Jay-Z is Barion Grant’s documentary with Moguldom Studios that explores the life of Jigga Man, tracing him from his roots as a Bed-Stuy hustler to the new revered one-half of hip-hop and R&B’s billionaire power-couple. In this film, Grant takes his time to curate a panel of historians and hip-hop gurus to really best identify what about Jay made him such a genius, and not only that, how he was able to translate that “hustla mentality” into a brand of international renown.
