The afrofuturist, funk songstress has returned with her 11th studio album. Comet, Come to Me has a sound as about intergalactic as the title would suggest. But the bedrock of this album are the hail mark instruments of soul music, coming together to make auditory bliss. The dance of fingers across guitars, the allure of horns, and the playful piano delights gives body to Comet. But it is Ndegeocello’s smooth, almost shy vocals gives the album such light.
