2Chainz leaked a surprise new mixtape entitled Freebase. Of course with Rev. Chainz we’ve come to expect and admire a level of absurdity and audacity in his dynamic beats. This new mixtape does not disappoint on that front. But greater still is his playing around with various voice samples, especially as characters explain their relationship to drugs and freebasing. In this, 2Chainz at once produces hard-knocking hip hop while also providing a sort of cultural ethnography. There are levels to this stuff!
